Constitution of the T.A.M.A. Club

ARTICLE I - Name of the Organization

Section 1: The name of this organization shall be Tahoe Anime & Manga Association (abbreviated T.A.M.A.).

ARTICLE II - Purpose of Organization

Section 1: The purpose of T.A.M.A. is to appreciate and learn about anime and manga. Anime is Japanese animation and manga are Japanese comic books. In addition to watching/reading anime/manga, members will discuss the aforementioned art forms, learn a little about Japanese culture and language, and have fun sharing this particular interest.

ARTICLE III - Officers

Section 1: Officers for T.A.M.A. are as follows:

President - Victoria Centanni
Vice President - Kate Young
Secretary - Liz VanBuskirk
Treasurer - Ross Fraser

Section 2: All officers shall remain in office until A) willful retirement from club or position, B) the officer is petitioned out by members of club, in which case the remaining three officers will vote whether or not said officer remains in office, or C) the officer fails to perform his or her duties and is voted out unanimously by the other three officers.

Section 3: It shall be the duty of the President to preside over meetings, organize meetings and events, finalize club votes, survey the members, make the final decision on financial issues, and keep the peace among the club. The President is also responsible for going over the club treasury records with the Treasurer to ensure there are no errors and must approve all spending (if it is not voted on).

Section 4: It shall be the duty of the Vice President to take over presidential duties in the President's absence and to initiate meetings. Vice President also acts as a "censor" to ensure all material viewed is appropriate and that warnings of "R" rated material is brought to all members' attention in advance.

Section 5: It shall be the duty of the Secretary to take the "minutes" of official meetings, to organize the paperwork, and complete paper work when necessary. In the absence of the President and Vice President, the Secretary may act as President.

Section 6: It shall be the duty of the Treasurer to handle financial transactions, to keep records of all monitory transactions, and to bring to the club's attention its current financial position. Treasurer must be told about any and all spending. Treasurer should also help organized fund-raisers. In the unlikely event of absence of all other officers, Treasurer may act as President.

Section 7: It shall be the duty of all officers to plan special events (like fund-raisers, anime nights, etc.). All officers are responsible for upholding the rules of the club.

ARTICLE IV - Membership

Section 1: The membership of this club is open to all students at Lake Tahoe Community College.

Section 2: To become a member of T.A.M.A., the student must attend one meeting and tell an officer they would like to join. The student must fill out the "New Member Survey" (designed to help officers decide what club members want from the club and determine the members' interests in various forms of anime/manga). Anyone under the age of 18 must get a parent to sign a waiver saying they understand some of the anime/manga may have violent or adult content. Once the student is a member, they must attend one meeting a month or if they cannot, must notify an officer that they still have an interest in the club. If a member fails to attend meetings for more than 2 months and does not contact an officer to say they have intent to remain in the club, the member will be out of the club and will have to rejoin. Non-Members (students attending for the first time) will be allowed to participate in discussions but will not be allowed to vote on club matters. ARTICLE V - Meetings Section 1: Meetings of T.A.M.A. will be held bi-weekly.

Section 2: Meetings shall be called by the President or Vice President at least one week in advance. In cases of urgent matters, any officer may call immediate officer meetings.

ARTICLE VI - Parliamentary Authority

Section 1: The rules contained in the current edition of the T.A.M.A. handbook (that will be prepared by the secretary and approved by the president) shall govern T.A.M.A. in all cases to which they are applicable and in which they are not inconsistent with the Constitution of T.A.M.A.

ARTICLE VII - Quorum

Section 1: The number of members that must be present for the club to conduct business legally is 6 and at least 2 of them must be officers.

ARTICLE VIII - Amendments

Section 1: The proposed amendment must be in the hands of the club officers no later than one week before the scheduled meeting of T.A.M.A., at which it is presented.

Section 2: Following the approval of the amendment by the officers, this constitution may be amended by a 2/3 vote of the membership at the first meeting of the organization at which a quorum is present.

ARTICLE IX – ENACTING CLAUSE

Section 1: This constitution shall become effective upon approval of the following individuals:
